As part of the BAC’s Continuing Education Weekend, Rob Adams of Halvorson Design, John Dalzell, leader of the BPDA’s Green Building and Sustainable Development Initiative, and community liaison Chris Marchi led a workshop called “Framing Resiliency and Climate Change in East Boston: How Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration Makes a Difference.”
Rob Adams and Cynthia Smith attended the Boston Harbor for All Summit, hosted by Boston Harbor Now in collaboration with the BSA. This interactive event focused on addressing opportunities along the Boston Harbor, the challenges faced, and how policy makers and designers can work together to move projects from planning into action.
The Dedham Village Preservation Association and the Town of Dedham have selected Halvorson Design Partnership of Boston to develop a three-year cemetery improvement master plan for the historic Old Village Cemetery. Their work will set the stage for future improvements to preserve and enhance the character and beauty of this important landmark.
Organized by East Boston’s Neighborhood of Affordable Housing (NOAH) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI) of Boston/New England, the East Boston Flood Prevention Design Workshop brought together teams of experts and the community to brainstorm ways to protect East Boston from sea level rise and the effects of climate change.
The development, design and construction team celebrated the "Topping Off" for the new River House student residences, part of the transformative South Street Landing project in Providence.
Located on the Providence River, in the heart of downtown Providence's new Innovation and Design District, the River House was designed by SGA and features 174 units for graduate students. Halvorson Design is responsible for landscape design that includes courtyards, shared pedestrian vehicular street, and creative on-site stormwater management.
A collaboration between the Boston Housing Authority, POAH, and the Madison Park Development Corp, the Whittier Choice Neighborhood Initiative aims to create a healthier, more vibrant environment for the community. Phase 1A involves the demolition and removal of existing structures to make way for three new buildings designed by The Architectural Team that will house 70 rental units and 16 townhomes as well as commercial recreational space.
Halvorson Design is providing landscape architecture services for this new public housing project, which will feature commercial/retail and amenity space as well as publicly-accessible open space and streetscape improvements.
Contractors NEI General Contracting and JANEY Construction are teaming on the Phase 1A redevelopment of the Whittier Street Apartments site.
On May 18 and 19, Bob Uhlig of Halvorson Design joins a team of experts for the East Boston Flood Prevention Design Workshop, sponsored by ULI Boston/New England and NOAH (Neighborhood of Affordable Housing). The goal of this event is to work with the community to create a shared and inclusive vision for protecting East Boston from sea level rise and coastal storm flooding.
Working in collaboration with CV Properties, Wexford Science & Technology, SGA and Tsoi/Kobus, Halvorson Design is serving as landscape architect for South Street Landing, a significant, multi-phased redevelopment project to create a vibrant neighborhood to live, learn, work and play in Providence’s thriving Jewelry District.
