Willard Street Improvements
Streetscape + Drainage Improvements | Cambridge, Massachusetts
As a part of a team led by HDR, Inc., Halvorson | Tighe & Bond Studio is making landscape and streetscape improvements to Willard Street in Cambridge. Goals of the project center on the reduction of stormwater and flooding along the street and will include upgrades to utilities, traffic flow, landscape, and hardscape.
Following a series of community meetings intended to generate input, the design team developed three surface concepts with options for one- and two-way vehicular traffic, widened sidewalks, bike accommodations, additional street trees, and stormwater mitigation interventions such as bioswales and permeable paving.
Implementation of a preferred design option is scheduled to begin soon. Visit the project website here for updates.
