Friedman Community Center | St. Paul's School

Accessible Plaza + Entrance, Concord, New Hampshire

Working in collaboration with Ann Beha Architects and St. Paul’s School, Halvorson designed a series of landscape renovations, including a new outdoor plaza/terrace, for the Friedman Community Center.

A curved, sloped walk serves as the new accessible main entrance to the Friedman Community Center for students arriving from the main campus. Walls define the space, providing informal outdoor seating around a new exterior gas fireplace that serves as a central feature and gathering area for students.

In addition to the granite walls, the outdoor gathering space features moveable café tables and chairs. Plantings at the new lower entrance and the main entrance off of Library Road include flowering trees, ornamental grasses, groundcovers and shrubs.
