Moore Arts Loft + Crumpacker Art Gallery | St. Paul's School
Accessible Entrance + Arts Terrace, Concord, New Hampshire
Halvorson, in collaboration with Ann Beha Architects and St. Paul’s School, designed a series of landscape enhancements for the Crumpacker Art Gallery and Moore Arts Loft.
Relocating the existing gallery to the former Freeman Student Center (now the Crumpacker Art Gallery)—near the new school theater and music and dance buildings—creates a central, more integrated arts community on campus. Nearby Moore Hall was also expanded to create new studios and an outdoor sculpture garden.
Halvorson carefully designed the outdoor spaces around both of the buildings, including reconfiguring and regrading the Quad, to improve accessibility and address the steep slope.
The stepped arts terrace with its sloped walkway for accessibility, special paving, and new colorful plantings create a welcoming and inspirational outdoor learning and gathering space for St. Paul’s School students.
