Principal Landscape Architect

Richard Houghton is a principal landscape architect with more than 15 years of landscape architecture and urban design experience. His project management expertise includes award-winning urban parks, multi-modal paths and trails, streetscapes, plazas, playgrounds, performance spaces, and cemetery design. He has also collaborated on academic campus designs for institutions such as Boston University and Harvard University.

With considerable interest in the public realm, Rich’s work ranges from historical and culturally significant sites, from the Boston Public Garden to new multi-modal trails and ecological restoration opportunities along North Mill Pond in downtown Portsmouth, NH. Recently, Rich completed the award-winning Hancock Adams Common, a transformative planning and design project in downtown Quincy that realigned the urban fabric to create an activated park and streetscape. He is currently serving as Project Manager for the Arborway Parkways Improvement Project, a one mile stretch within Boston’s Emerald Necklace park system in collaboration with Howard Stein Hudson and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation.
