Recognized as a “great example of how Providence is using green infrastructure to separate space between people on bikes and others driving cars” San Souci Drive was named one of America’s Best New Bikeways of 2020 by People for Bikes. As part of a multidisciplinary team led by VHB, Halvorson | Tighe & Bond Studio developed a series of landscape improvements along the 0.35-mile path overlooking the Woonasquatucket River to minimize stormwater runoff and flooding while creating a safer, more attractive multi-modal connection.

As part of the two-day virtual Architecture Boston Expo (ABX), Vesna Maneva, senior landscape architect at Halvorson | Tighe & Bond Studio participated in the panel “Water Use Reduction? Low Priority, Too Complex? Think Again!” with experts from HMFH Architects, Berkshire Design Group, and Samiotes Consulting. The panel focused on a variety of projects, including the new Bristol County Agricultural High School designed by HMFH Architects with landscape by Halvorson.

The Smith Offers Modern Industrial Design, Handcrafted by Nature
Developed by Leggat McCall Properties and Bentall GreenOak, with buildings by CBT Architects and landscape by Halvorson | Tighe & Bond Studio, this multi-phase project sits on 3.1 acres of land and will include two state-of-the-art buildings with ground floor amenities that offer a mix of uses, including retail, restaurant, and cultural space.
Phase 1 of the project opened Fall 2020 and features 300 apartments, including 30 affordable residential units, in a U-shaped building that wraps around a large courtyard.

Whittier Choice Neighborhood Phase 1A Completed
Construction has been completed on Phase 1A of the Whittier Choice Development in Roxbury. This new affordable housing complex—a collaboration between the Boston Housing Authority, Madison Park Development Corporation, and the Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) with buildings designed by The Architectural Team (TAT) and landscape by Halvorson | Tighe & Bond Studio—features a variety of outdoor amenities, including courtyards, public gathering areas, playspaces, and a welcoming streetscape that encourages pedestrian and multi-modal use.
"What’s Out There Weekend" celebrates Boston’s most beloved outdoor spaces
Halvorson | Tighe & Bond Studio is participating in The Cultural Landscape Foundation’s “What’s Out There” Weekend in Boston on September 12-13. This free, in-person event features expert-led tours of some of Boston’s most beloved landscapes, gardens, parks, and cultural institutions. TCLF’s goal is to encourage the public to engage with the outdoor spaces that shape their communities and learn more about the thought and planning that went into the design of some of the world’s most iconic outdoor spaces.

The Smith opens in Boston's South End
The Smith, a new residential development designed by architects CBT with landscape architecture by Halvorson | Tighe & Bond Studio for Leggat McCall, is now open. Halvorson designed a series of outdoor spaces, including a welcoming courtyard with a variety of seating options as well as a rooftop terrace featuring a pool, fire pits and grilling stations, and stunning views of the city.
