Charles River Basin Bicycle + Pedestrian Study
Planning | Boston, Massachusetts
Halvorson, leading an interdisciplinary team of consultants, was engaged by the MassDOT to conduct the first multi-modal comprehensive analysis and design of facilities for cyclists and pedestrians along the historic eight-mile riverfront corridor at the heart of Greater Boston.
Organized under the Commonwealth’s Accelerated Bridge Program, the study involved 11 vehicular bridges and an extended network of multi-use paths. The study articulates a new vision for multi-modal travel within the basin and into the surrounding urban neighborhoods.
Sub-consultants include HDR Engineering, Alta Planning, Nitsch Engineering and Epsilon Associates.
